Watching the waves

Watching the waves

This is my week to watch the waves as they come and go ~ back and forth on the sand that welcomes them. ⛵ My heart invites their rhythm in my life as I break from the normal pace and find rest here in this place of vacation.

As I sit here today, the ocean view out my 4th floor balcony window is dim and not real welcoming for my vacation heart. 🏖 It is good, however, for my writer’s heart. 📝 The waves are wildly churning and the 20 mph winds whip through everything the 1-2″ of pelting rain touches today. I can hear the wind and the waves making quite the symphony together.

I didn’t choose this weather on my vacation, but being able to relax when all outside is chaotic is something I am choosing to embrace in the midst of the storm. My soul is okay on the inside.

👉 I think about the storm many years ago when Jesus calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee. As I listen to the wind and the rain right now, I can only imagine how the disciples felt with the fierce storm raging around them and high waves beginning to break into the boat.

"Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they woke him up shouting, 'Teacher, don't you even care that we are going to drown?" Mark 4:38 NLT

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, “Quiet down!” Suddenly, the wind and the waves calmed down.

Jesus asked the disciples ~ "Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?" Mark 4:40 NLT

“And they were filled with awe and said among themselves, “Who is this man, that even the wind and waves obey him?”

Mark 4:41 NLT

Life becomes stormy at times and carries with it waves that invade the boat and high winds that whip through those times a calm sea is desired. Oh how important is my hiding place during those times. Seeking deliverance from a shipwreck is the first thing on the mind. Where I go to seek it makes all the difference in my deliverance.

It doesn’t say how soon the sun came out after Jesus calmed the storm or how much longer they were in the boat together. Nor do we know when the sun came out again. I do know this, however, that after the storms of life rage through, and rage they do, the sun will rise again on another morning with another blue sky day to walk in.

I trust Him to keep me in a safe place throughout the stormy times. My tears may mix with the pelting rain and the stormy waves, but I know He holds me close. Very close indeed.

“It is after the storm I find broken shells 🐚 that have washed up on the sand I walk on. They represent:

🌊 PLACES in my life I have not walked through alone

🐚 Reminders that God still has PURPOSE for me

🏖 God’s PROTECTION and intervention is available for me just like it was that day on the Sea of Galilee”

If you are going through a storm in life, remember you are not alone. ❤ May you know the One who calms the storm walks with you.

“He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor!”

Psalm 107:29-30 NLT

Update: Apparently I was wrong on the amount of rain!!!! See screenshot photo below. 😳 We are just North of Daytona.
